Charles Krug, Carneros Chardonnay 2021

Flag of United States

As Napa's oldest winery, the history of Charles Krug starts in 1861, when the winery's namesake, the visionary father of Napa Valley winemaking, established the winery that started it all in this now world-renowned region. The Mondavi Family purchased this already iconic estate in 1943, and for over 75 years and four generations they have been passionately perfecting an enduring legacy for those generations still to come. The cool and foggy Carneros region is known for producing grapes with a natural balance of acidity and ripeness. Fruit was hand-picked in the cool of night to ensure it reached the winery in pristine condition. This elegantly balanced, medium-bodied wine is partially French oak barrel fermented and aged sur-lie. It has a complex nose of citrus, tropical fruit, lightly toasted marshmallows, and warm spice. The palate follows with flavours of apples and cream, a touch of toasty oak and a crisp finish.
